THE TEAM
Joshinder Chaggar
Director | Producer | Cinematographer
“I see it everywhere, in every community – older women are living it up, charging forward, breaking stereotypes and it is truly magnificent. I want to celebrate and share their joy, openness, fierceness, and vitality with the world.”
Joshinder is a lover of story-telling, empowering women and resisting labels. She is currently finishing up a PhD doctorate, where her research in dance studies intersects her intercultural identity with story-telling. She has worked in the dance and theatre industry for the past 17 years, and specifically with the senior community since 2018. She is now transferring these passions and experience of writing, production and direction into films.
Her first film in 2022, “More Than Cute”, a 15-min doc, won Best Documentary at the Reel Sisters of the Diaspora Film Festival (New York), and was an official selection at film festivals in Melbourne, London, Mumbai, Karachi, Lahore & Islamabad. Crones is her first feature documentary film, that shines a light on energised older women.
Erika M. Martinez
Producer
“As a storyteller, I see this film as a love letter to my own mother, grandmothers, sisters, maternal figures, and feminine strength that have made me the person I am today!”
Erika is a queer, first-generation Cuban-American producer based out of Los Angeles, California. Her passions lie in creating safe spaces through the stories they help tell and the environments she creates. Her most notable work comes from co-producing the award-winning short, “The Astronaut”, which she helped secure funding, location, and talent. “The Astronaut” won Diversity and Inclusion for NASA’S Cinespace competition and Best Microfilm for Independent Short Awards. It was also screened at multiple film festivals, such as Culver city, Santa Monica International, Independent short awards, Cinespace, New Filmmakers Los Angeles Fest, Cinequest, Venice Shorts, Fantasy and Sci-Fi Film Fest. She is currently producing the upcoming sci fi short, “Sweet Dreams”. Erika’s ultimate goal with her work is to help people feel seen, heard, and understood, whether that comes from her own writings, creating collaborative environments, or working alongside others to make their passionate dreams a reality.
